Perhaps will will finally answer for what he has done, whether that be in Heaven above, but mostly likely in Hell below.
May he RIP.
You just knew there would be a media orgy when this happened. Many say we shouldn't speak ill of the deceased but I've never subscribed to that notion.
Teddy was hardly the "lion of the Senate" as he is frequently called. He was a privileged rich kid (nothing wrong with that) who just never grew up. His legislative accomplishments all involved spending other folks' money. Always claiming to be a staunch Catholic, he was an unabashed supporter of abortion. He lived his life in the style of the rich and famous (that's OK) while claiming to be a champion of the poor. In the Senate for 46 years, he was the poster child for all that is wrong with lifelong politicians.
Now, to his two unforgivable, at least in this life, sins: Mary Jo and Robert Bork. His behavior on both accounts was shameful and that of a moral coward. I can think of nothing during his career that indicated courage on his part. His parting shot was trying to get the election law in Massachusetts changed so that a replacement could be named without delay which harkens back to his life of privilege.
I'll end on a positive note: TK was supposedly a very gracious and nice man in person. Those who met him say he was very approachable and friendly. He'll no doubt be missed by his family.

Term limits!
Lee, you were very generous and a gentleman. I crawled all over CCTT for blasting Jesse Helms when he passed, but Jesse Helms didn't leave a woman in a car, seven feet under water for ten hours before her reported the accident.
I thank you for being so generous and pointing out any attributes that might be associated with the late Senator. I just couldn't bring myself to do it!
My sentiments are also for his family, who made no choices for this man. VN8
Dennis, I don't know what the answer is! Ronald Reagan is dead and I don't see another Reagan out there? How about you! Hey when are you going to post those mission photos? VN8
I just thought of another of his really big sins. Back in the days of RR, TK was at the forefront of those opposing our actions in Central America. He was cozier and friendlier with tyrants than with his fellow Americans on the other side of the Senate aisle. But that hardly distinguishes him among Democrats. Much the same can be said of BO. Anyway, give it a week and the TK frenzy will pass.
BTW: did you catch Chris Matthews saying that "the torch" had been passed from TK to BO and now BO is the last Kennedy brother? Good grief!
Dennis, I run hot and cold on term limits. I loathe the thought of career politicians but I also believe folks should have the right to vote whom they please. But even powerful career guys can be unseated. Recall 1994 when Speaker of the House Tom Foley (D, WA) was defeated in the GOP sweep.
If term limits were to be imposed, I believe a constitutional amendment should be the vehicle rather than a statute. I suppose individual states could also accomplish the same for their own representatives and senators but that would put them at quite a disadvantage.
Lets mot forget Old Teddy sucking up to the Ruskies.
