Before friendly audiences, Barack Obama speaks passionately about something called "economic justice." He uses the term obliquely, though, speaking in code — socialist code.
During his NAACP speech earlier this month, Sen. Obama repeated the term at least four times. "I've been working my entire adult life to help build an America where economic justice is being served," he said at the group's 99th annual convention in Cincinnati.
And as president, "we'll ensure that economic justice is served," he asserted. "That's what this election is about." Obama never spelled out the meaning of the term, but he didn't have to. His audience knew what he meant, judging from its thumping approval.
It's the rest of the public that remains in the dark, which is why we're launching this special educational series.
"Economic justice" simply means punishing the successful and redistributing their wealth by government fiat. It's a euphemism for socialism.
In the past, such rhetoric was just that — rhetoric. But Obama's positioning himself with alarming stealth to put that rhetoric into action on a scale not seen since the birth of the welfare state.
In his latest memoir he shares that he'd like to "recast" the welfare net that FDR and LBJ cast while rolling back what he derisively calls the "winner-take-all" market economy that Ronald Reagan reignited (with record gains in living standards for all).
Obama also talks about "restoring fairness to the economy," code for soaking the "rich" — a segment of society he fails to understand that includes mom-and-pop businesses filing individual tax returns.
It's clear from a close reading of his two books that he's a firm believer in class envy. He assumes the economy is a fixed pie, whereby the successful only get rich at the expense of the poor.
Following this discredited Marxist model, he believes government must step in and redistribute pieces of the pie. That requires massive transfers of wealth through government taxing and spending, a return to the entitlement days of old.
Of course, Obama is too smart to try to smuggle such hoary collectivist garbage through the front door. He's disguising the wealth transfers as "investments" — "to make America more competitive," he says, or "that give us a fighting chance," whatever that means.
Among his proposed "investments":
• "Universal," "guaranteed" health care.
• "Free" college tuition.
• "Universal national service" (a la Havana).
• "Universal 401(k)s" (in which the government would match contributions made by "low- and moderate-income families").
• "Free" job training (even for criminals).
• "Wage insurance" (to supplement dislocated union workers' old income levels).
• "Free" child care and "universal" preschool.
• More subsidized public housing.
• A fatter earned income tax credit for "working poor."
• And even a Global Poverty Act that amounts to a Marshall Plan for the Third World, first and foremost Africa.
His new New Deal also guarantees a "living wage," with a $10 minimum wage indexed to inflation; and "fair trade" and "fair labor practices," with breaks for "patriot employers" who cow-tow to unions, and sticks for "nonpatriot" companies that don't.
That's just for starters — first-term stuff.
Obama doesn't stop with socialized health care. He wants to socialize your entire human resources department — from payrolls to pensions. His social-microengineering even extends to mandating all employers provide seven paid sick days per year to salary and hourly workers alike.
You can see why Obama was ranked, hands-down, the most liberal member of the Senate by the National Journal. Some, including colleague and presidential challenger John McCain, think he's the most liberal member in Congress.
But could he really be "more left," as McCain recently remarked, than self-described socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (for whom Obama has openly campaigned, even making a special trip to Vermont to rally voters)?
Obama's voting record, going back to his days in the Illinois statehouse, says yes. His career path — and those who guided it — leads to the same unsettling conclusion.
The seeds of his far-left ideology were planted in his formative years as a teenager in Hawaii — and they were far more radical than any biography or profile in the media has portrayed.
A careful reading of Obama's first memoir, "Dreams From My Father," reveals that his childhood mentor up to age 18 — a man he cryptically refers to as "Frank" — was none other than the late communist Frank Marshall Davis, who fled Chicago after the FBI and Congress opened investigations into his "subversive," "un-American activities."
As Obama was preparing to head off to college, he sat at Davis' feet in his Waikiki bungalow for nightly bull sessions. Davis plied his impressionable guest with liberal doses of whiskey and advice, including: Never trust the white establishment.
"They'll train you so good," he said, "you'll start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that sh**."
After college, where he palled around with Marxist professors and took in socialist conferences "for inspiration," Obama followed in Davis' footsteps, becoming a "community organizer" in Chicago.
His boss there was Gerald Kellman, whose identity Obama also tries to hide in his book. Turns out Kellman's a disciple of the late Saul "The Red" Alinsky, a hard-boiled Chicago socialist who wrote the "Rules for Radicals" and agitated for social revolution in America.
The Chicago-based Woods Fund provided Kellman with his original $25,000 to hire Obama. In turn, Obama would later serve on the Woods board with terrorist Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground. Ayers was one of Obama's early political supporters.
After three years agitating with marginal success for more welfare programs in South Side Chicago, Obama decided he would need to study law to "bring about real change" — on a large scale.
While at Harvard Law School, he still found time to hone his organizing skills. For example, he spent eight days in Los Angeles taking a national training course taught by Alinsky's Industrial Areas Foundation. With his newly minted law degree, he returned to Chicago to reapply — as well as teach — Alinsky's "agitation" tactics.
(A video-streamed bio on Obama's Web site includes a photo of him teaching in a University of Chicago classroom. If you freeze the frame and look closely at the blackboard Obama is writing on, you can make out the words "Power Analysis" and "Relationships Built on Self Interest" — terms right out of Alinsky's rule book.)
Amid all this, Obama reunited with his late father's communist tribe in Kenya, the Luo, during trips to Africa.
As a Nairobi bureaucrat, Barack Hussein Obama Sr., a Harvard-educated economist, grew to challenge the ruling pro-Western government for not being socialist enough. In an eight-page scholarly paper published in 1965, he argued for eliminating private farming and nationalizing businesses "owned by Asians and Europeans."
His ideas for communist-style expropriation didn't stop there. He also proposed massive taxes on the rich to "redistribute our economic gains to the benefit of all."
"Theoretically, there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed," Obama Sr. wrote. "I do not see why the government cannot tax those who have more and syphon some of these revenues into savings which can be utilized in investment for future development."
Taxes and "investment" . . . the fruit truly does not fall far from the vine.
(Voters might also be interested to know that Obama, the supposed straight shooter, does not once mention his father's communist leanings in an entire book dedicated to his memory.)
In Kenya's recent civil unrest, Obama privately phoned the leader of the opposition Luo tribe, Raila Odinga, to voice his support. Odinga is so committed to communism he named his oldest son after Fidel Castro.
With his African identity sewn up, Obama returned to Chicago and fell under the spell of an Afrocentric pastor. It was a natural attraction. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright preaches a Marxist version of Christianity called "black liberation theology" and has supported the communists in Cuba, Nicaragua and elsewhere.
Obama joined Wright's militant church, pledging allegiance to a system of "black values" that demonizes white "middle classness" and other mainstream pursuits.
(Obama in his first book, published in 1995, calls such values "sensible." There's no mention of them in his new book.)
With the large church behind him, Obama decided to run for political office, where he could organize for "change" more effectively. "As an elected official," he said, "I could bring church and community leaders together easier than I could as a community organizer or lawyer."
He could also exercise real, top-down power, the kind that grass-roots activists lack. Alinsky would be proud.
Throughout his career, Obama has worked closely with a network of stone-cold socialists and full-blown communists striving for "economic justice."
He's been traveling in an orbit of collectivism that runs from Nairobi to Honolulu, and on through Chicago to Washington.
Yet a recent AP poll found that only 6% of Americans would describe Obama as "liberal," let alone socialist.
Public opinion polls usually reflect media opinion, and the media by and large have portrayed Obama as a moderate "outsider" (the No. 1 term survey respondents associate him with) who will bring a "breath of fresh air" to Washington.
The few who have drilled down on his radical roots have tended to downplay or pooh-pooh them. Even skeptics have failed to connect the dots for fear of being called the dreaded "r" word.
But too much is at stake in this election to continue mincing words.
Both a historic banking crisis and 1970s-style stagflation loom over the economy. Democrats, who already control Congress, now threaten to filibuster-proof the Senate in what could be a watershed election for them — at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue.
A perfect storm of statism is forming, and our economic freedoms are at serious risk.
Those who care less about looking politically correct than preserving the free-market individualism that's made this country great have to start calling things by their proper name to avert long-term disaster.

Human Needs of the Socialist Party
(Who exactly do the Socialists think is going to pay for the following? Oh, I know, the greedy, rich people that are earning their wealth on the backs of workers! VN8)
Arts and Culture
The Socialist Party believes that art is an integral part of daily life, and should not be treated as a commodity produced by the activity of an elite group. All members of society should have ample opportunities for participation in art and cultural activities.
1. We support the formation of collectives, arts centers and schools, independent media, theaters and festivals to advance such cultural endeavors as music, poetry, prose, drama, dance, storytelling, visual art, and videography.
2. We support guaranteed incomes and grants for artists and performers.
3. We support making schools and workplaces available as cultural centers.
4. We call for full funding of community and school arts programs for people of all ages.
5. We call for full funding to keep libraries, museums, cultural centers, and historic sites open and accessible to all.
6. We call for the preservation of literature, art, music, dance, oral traditions, and audio and video recordings that have arisen out of people's experiences: young and old, of all nationalities and colors, sexual preferences, working, un- and under-employed, and disabled.
7. We support the autonomy of artists of color, women artists, and disabled artists in their creative work.
8. We support the right of artists to join and form unions to protect their labor rights and to form collectives to advance common artistic visions.
Education
The Socialist Party recognizes the right of students of all ages to a free, quality education in a safe and supportive environment, and of all school employees to good wages, benefits, and working conditions.
1. We call for full and equal funding of public education; for the restoration of a comprehensive K-12 curriculum, including art, music, world languages, and physical education; for an end to all public funding of private schools; and for free tuition and full-time teachers with full benefits (not "adjuncts") at the post-secondary level.
2. We support public child care starting from infancy, and public education starting at age three, with caregivers and teachers of young children receiving training, wages, and benefits comparable to that of teachers at every other level of the educational system.
3. We oppose merit pay for teachers, standardized testing, competition between schools within the same district, the sale of on-campus advertising in order to raise funds, and the increasing dependence of post-secondary institutions on corporate funding.
4. We call for an egalitarian educational system with teaching methods that accommodate the wide range of teaching and learning styles, and that provides all students with the means to obtain the post-secondary education they desire. We call a maximum of 15 students per teacher for grades K-12, and a maximum of 50 students per teacher at the post-secondary level.
5. We call for vigorous affirmative action programs so that the faculty and student-body of all schools reflect the community at large in terms of race/ethnicity, gender, and economic background. We support multicultural, multilingual, experimental education at all levels.
6. We support student, parent, and teacher control of curriculum formation, and in the hiring and dismissal procedures of school personnel, through the formation of local school/community committees.
7. We call for student representation on school boards, and for those boards to be fully accountable to students, parents, teachers, and school workers.
8. We call for opportunities for lifelong self-education, with retraining programs and transitional financial support for workers displaced by technological advances.
9. We support full and unrestricted health education programs, including sex education, with curriculum input from parents, students, teachers, and health care professionals.
10. We oppose school-sponsored prayer or any other religious practice in public schools, and all efforts to limit the teaching of evolution or to combine it with non-scientific theories.
11. We call for free and open access to information, including the public ownership of all large databases.
Health Care
The Socialist Party stands for a socialized health care system based on universal coverage, salaried doctors and health care workers, and revenues derived from a steeply graduated income tax.
1. We support a national health program with full standard and alternative medical, dental, vision, and mental health coverage for all, publicly funded through progressive taxation and controlled by democratically elected assemblies of health care workers and patients. The National Health Program should extend, and replace, Medicare and Medicaid.
2. We call for a health care system that emphasizes preventive care, respects patients' privacy, gives special attention to the needs of the physically and mentally disabled, and conducts treatment and research unimpaired by sexism, racism, or homophobia.
3. We call for full funding for AIDS research, prevention, and treatment. We demand full civil rights for people living with AIDS.
4. We call for public ownership and worker and community control of the pharmaceutical industry.
5. We call for educational programs to help prevent drug addiction; for voluntary treatment programs for addicts and alcoholics; and for the availability of free, sterile needles for those still using IV drugs.
6. We call for the reinstatement of funding to community mental health services so that low-cost or no-cost treatment is available on a voluntary basis, with clients' rights respected. We oppose involuntary incarceration for treatment without due process.
7. We support the right to choose or refuse medical treatment, the right to die, and the right to assisted suicide.
Housing
The Socialist Party recognizes the right of all people to high quality, low cost housing.
1. We call for a vast increase in Section 8 housing subsidies as one element of major public investment in the construction of low cost, scattered site, community-based, high quality housing.
2. We call for rent control for all rental units, and the right of tenants to organize.
3. We support the formation of non-profit land trusts and of socially owned, tenant controlled housing cooperatives.
4. We call for the organization of a housing rehabilitation program aimed at renovating and remodeling existing homes to bring them up to housing and safety codes, as part of a broader public works program.
5. We call for an end to home foreclosures
Transportation
The Socialist Party calls for extensive public transportation in both urban and rural areas.
1. We call for the creation of a fully funded high-speed national rail system with fares set low enough to be a viable alternative to the use of the automobile.
2. We call for an end to the expansion of the interstate highway system and the reduction of combustion engine/auto based transport.
3. We call for government subsidized programs to expand safe routes for foot and bicycle paths.
4. We call for pedestrian ways, accessible by mass transit, which exclude vehicles from the downtown area of cities and towns.
5. We support publicly funded development of renewable fuels.
6. We support federally funded auto insurance.
7. We call for public ownership and worker control of the airline industry.

A genious!
(Who would have ever thought Drew Carey was a genius? Well apparently you can't judge a book by its cover! VN8)
The languuage of strength!
(Amen Brother Shaul Mofaz. You said it best. The following is what Israel's transportation minister had to say to Senator Barack Obama while he was on his pilgrimage to Israel. Way to let him hear the unadulterated truth! VN8)
As "someone who was born and spent his childhood in Iran, I know the Iranian people very well," Israel's transportation minister, Shaul Mofaz — who is running against Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni to replace Mr. Olmert as leader of the Kadima Party — wrote in an "open letter" to Mr. Obama in the Jerusalem Post. "I can tell you that the only language that can be used in this case is the language of strength," Mr. Mofaz wrote.
Shaul Mofaz (help·info) (Persian: شائول موفاز, Hebrew: שאול מופז, born 1948 in Tehran, Iran) is the current Israeli Minister of Transportation and a Deputy Prime Minister, and a former Minister of Defense. Previously he was the 16th Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces, and was the second Israeli of a Mizrahi background to achieve that post.
Mofaz has had the unique distinction of serving under four different Israeli Prime Ministers, having been appointed as Chief of Staff by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (1996-1999) in 1998, then served under Prime Minister Ehud Barak (1999-2001), and was then appointed as Minister of Defense in 2002 by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (2001-2006), and presently serves under Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
He ventured forth to bring light to the world . . .
Gerard Baker - The TimesOnLine
The anointed one's pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a miracle in action - and a blessing to all his faithful followers:
And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.
The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.
When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago, arguing the finer points of community organisation with the Prophet Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: “Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?”
In the great Battles of Caucus and Primary he smote the conniving Hillary, wife of the deposed King Bill the Priapic and their barbarian hordes of Working Class Whites.
And so it was, in the fullness of time, before the harvest month of the appointed year, the Child ventured forth - for the first time - to bring the light unto all the world.
He travelled fleet of foot and light of camel, with a small retinue that consisted only of his loyal disciples from the tribe of the Media. He ventured first to the land of the Hindu Kush, where the
Taleban had harboured the viper of al-Qaeda in their bosom, raining terror on all the world.
And the Child spake and the tribes of Nato immediately loosed the Caveats that had previously bound them. And in the great battle that ensued the forces of the light were triumphant. For as long as the Child stood with his arms raised aloft, the enemy suffered great blows and the threat of terror was no more.
From there he went forth to Mesopotamia where he was received by the great ruler al-Maliki, and al-Maliki spake unto him and blessed his Sixteen Month Troop Withdrawal Plan even as the imperial warrior Petraeus tried to destroy it.
And lo, in Mesopotamia, a miracle occurred. Even though the Great Surge of Armour that the evil Bush had ordered had been a terrible mistake, a waste of vital military resources and doomed to end in disaster, the Child's very presence suddenly brought forth a great victory for the forces of the light.
And the Persians, who saw all this and were greatly fearful, longed to speak with the Child and saw that the Child was the bringer of peace. At the mention of his name they quickly laid aside their intrigues and beat their uranium swords into civil nuclear energy ploughshares.
From there the Child went up to the city of Jerusalem, and entered through the gate seated on an ass. The crowds of network anchors who had followed him from afar cheered “Hosanna” and waved great palm fronds and strewed them at his feet.
In Jerusalem and in surrounding Palestine, the Child spake to the Hebrews and the Arabs, as the Scripture had foretold. And in an instant, the lion lay down with the lamb, and the Israelites and Ishmaelites ended their long enmity and lived for ever after in peace.
As word spread throughout the land about the Child's wondrous works, peoples from all over flocked to hear him; Hittites and Abbasids; Obamacons and McCainiacs; Cameroonians and Blairites.
And they told of strange and wondrous things that greeted the news of the Child's journey. Around the world, global temperatures began to decline, and the ocean levels fell and the great warming was over.
The Great Prophet Algore of Nobel and Oscar, who many had believed was the anointed one, smiled and told his followers that the Child was the one generations had been waiting for.
And there were other wonderful signs. In the city of the Street at the Wall, spreads on interbank interest rates dropped like manna from Heaven and rates on credit default swaps fell to the ground as dead birds from the almond tree, and the people who had lived in foreclosure were able to borrow again.
Black gold gushed from the ground at prices well below $140 per barrel. In hospitals across the land the sick were cured even though they were uninsured. And all because the Child had pronounced it.
And this is the testimony of one who speaks the truth and bears witness to the truth so that you might believe. And he knows it is the truth for he saw it all on CNN and the BBC and in the pages of The New York Times.
Then the Child ventured forth from Israel and Palestine and stepped onto the shores of the Old Continent. In the land of Queen Angela of Merkel, vast multitudes gathered to hear his voice, and he preached to them at length.
But when he had finished speaking his disciples told him the crowd was hungry, for they had had nothing to eat all the hours they had waited for him.
And so the Child told his disciples to fetch some food but all they had was five loaves and a couple of frankfurters. So he took the bread and the frankfurters and blessed them and told his disciples to feed the multitudes. And when all had eaten their fill, the scraps filled twelve baskets.
Thence he travelled west to Mount Sarkozy. Even the beauteous Princess Carla of the tribe of the Bruni was struck by awe and she was great in love with the Child, but he was tempted not.
On the Seventh Day he walked across the Channel of the Angles to the ancient land of the hooligans. There he was welcomed with open arms by the once great prophet Blair and his successor, Gordon the Leper, and his successor, David the Golden One.
And suddenly, with the men appeared the archangel Gabriel and the whole host of the heavenly choir, ranks of cherubim and seraphim, all praising God and singing: “Yes, We Can.”

Log Cabin Criticizes Democrat Scare Tactics on Social Security
(I've always believe that the Republican umbrella was big enough for everyone. As I have stated in my previous blogs, I am a fiscal conservative and a Libertarian on many issues. I have followed the Log Cabin Republicans for years and some things I agree on and others I do not, but I found this article to be quite interesting. VN8)
McCain Plan Would Provide Social Security Fairness for LGBT Families
July 10, 2008
(Washington, DC) - Democratic partisans are attacking Republican Sen. John McCain for supporting a plan that would provide Social Security fairness for LGBT families. "Following election year clockwork, Democrats are trying to scare people about Social Security," said Log Cabin Republicans President Patrick Sammon. "Democrats seem more interested in employing election year scare tactics than supporting basic fairness for gay and lesbian families."
The current system discriminates against gay and lesbian families because they can't leave their benefits to a partner; as married straight couples do. This week, Senator McCain re-iterated his support for Social Security personal savings accounts for younger workers. Personal saving accounts would allow LGBT people to leave their benefits to anyone they want.
Americans United for Change, a Democrat group working to stop sensibile Social Security reform, criticized McCain for having the courage to propose an honest reform proposal. The Democratic National Committee and Democrat Congressional leaders - like Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) - joined in the attacks on McCain.
"Democrats support a Social Security status quo that discriminates against gay and lesbian workers," continued Sammon. "Senator McCain's common-sense plan provides fairness and will save Social Security for the next generation. Sen. Barack Obama, on the other hand, proposes Social Security tax increases that will hurt our economy and cost us jobs."
"Instead of launching cynical election year attacks aimed at scaring older voters, Barack Obama and Democratic leaders should join John McCain in supporting voluntary personal savings accounts," said Sammon.

One down, One to go
(Someone shared this with me and I found it to be very intersting. VN8)
The extent to which the Democrats are depriving American consumers of their own energy resources is clearly indicated by this graphic, courtesy of the IER.
This morning President Bush rescinded the executive order that has prohibited drilling on the outer continental shelf since 1990. Many of us have wondered why he didn't do that some time ago. Rescinding the order will not, of course, allow exploration to go forward, since Congress has also banned exploration of the shelf. But what President Bush has done is to focus attention squarely where it belongs: Congressional Democrats are now the only force standing between American consumers and access to vast quantities of petroleum.
Congress's ban on outer continental shelf exploration expires, and is renewed, annually. It is scheduled to expire in just 78 days, which means that if the Democrats want to continue keeping gas prices high, they will have to act--publicly--just days before November's election.
The President of the Institute for Energy Research, Thomas Pyle, issued this statement in response to the President's action this morning:
The federal government has made it illegal to produce taxpayer-owned energy from taxpayer-owned lands for nearly three decades. That’s a fact consumers need to understand as they cope with skyrocketing prices for everything from groceries to gasoline. Most Americans understand the law of supply and demand, but they may not know that America is the only developed nation in the world that restricts access to its own offshore energy resources, or that an annual vote in Congress is require to continue that policy. That time of the year has come, and the next 78 days will be a critical period for America’s energy security.
I don't think the Democrats will be able to take the heat that is coming from voters. My guess is that between now and the election, they will pretend to give in on the energy issue. If that is correct, they will not renew the ban on OCS exploration and will purport, in other ways, to remove government restrictions that keep the price of energy high. In doing so, they will be counting on the one-two punch of regulatory morass followed by litigation initiated by "environmental" groups to prevent any actual energy production from taking place, probably for decades.
So the battle is likely to shift away from acquiescence to exploration in principle, in the direction of removing the practical impediments to energy development.

Joe Lieberman: I'm Not a Candidate for VP
Sen. Joseph Lieberman says he has no desire to be the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, holding fast to a position he's held for months.
"As regards the vice presidency, I really have been there and done that," Lieberman told ABC News. "I am not a candidate. I am not interested in doing it. I hope John [McCain] is elected president. I'm going to work hard to do that. And I think the best thing I can do to help him be the great president I think he's capable of being is to be Democratic senator working across party lines to get things done."
Lieberman, who was Al Gore's running mate in 2000, was re-elected in 2006 as an independent to his fourth term after failing to win the Democratic nomination. He caucuses with the Democrats in the Senate. However, he has endorsed McCain's candidacy, and has often been mentioned by the media as a possible running mate.
Lieberman told ABC that even if McCain asks him outright, he won't join the GOP ticket.
"It's not going to happen. But I'd tell him, 'You honor me by this request to your friend but you can do a lot better, so thank you.'"
For months, Lieberman has has maintained that he has no interest in running for vice president again. In January, he told The Associated Press:
"I'd tell him, 'Thanks, John, I've been there, I've done that. You can find much better.' I'm not seeking anything else."
He also said he had "no intention of leaving the Democratic Party," but added that he'd be open to attending the Republican convention to witness McCain's official nomination. "I'd probably be more welcome there," he told the AP.

Bush to Lift Executive Ban on Offshore Oil Drilling
Monday , July 14, 2008
WASHINGTON —
President Bush will lift an executive ban on offshore oil drilling, although new oil exploration on the Outer Continental Shelf will remain off limits until Congress also takes action.
The president will make a Rose Garden statement on Monday, where he is expected to announce his lifting of the ban.
White House press secretary Dana Perino says Bush is acting now in hopes of spurring Congress to act. So far, lawmakers have shown no interest in doing so.
Bush and a growing number of lawmakers have been calling for broader options in dealing with rising energy costs, including $4 per gallon gasoline.
The Outer Continental Shelf has been a particularly hot debate, with the Bush administration saying new drilling technology would make U.S. shores safe from environmental disaster while helping to drive down prices with greater supplies.
Democrats say energy companies already have plenty of space to look for oil and have stalled on investing in more oil production while reaping record profits.
FOX News' Kelly Chernenkoff and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
OH Glory, now Arnold Schwarzenegger will have to answer to his constituents and I don't think that Dems have completely taken over California! States rights will allow offshore drilling. Can't wait to hear Arnold Schwarzenegger responds to this great news! He wants consistency, he wants to find alternative energy sources, put your money where your mouth is big guy and do something productive.
PS Just listened to the President's Press Conference on this heated issue and the theme of his conference was CONGRESS! So let's just sit back and see what the Democrats do now that the ball has been put back in their court! I'll be watching Senator Saxby Chambliss and Senator Johnny Isakson closely! Don't disappoint me guys! VN8

I beg your pardon!
Well, well, why should any of us be surprised that Douglas Daniel of the Associated Press would impart his personal and disparaging words in his article regarding the late Tony Snow:
"With a quick-from-the-lip repartee, broadcaster's good looks and a relentlessly bright outlook — if not always a command of the facts — he became a popular figure around the country to the delight of his White House bosses."
I suppose Tony Snow was just too pretty, his attitude too positive and way too conservative for Douglas Daniel!
RIP Tony Snow. To your wife, your children and your family and friends, you will be in my prayers!

Cynthia McKinney for President!
Cynthia McKinney, Moon bat extraordinaire, has been nominated as the Green Party’s Presidential nominee.
Finally! A place for disaffected Obamanoids to go! (Wonder if she’ll have any problems beating up her Secret Service contingent?)
One of the people who commented on this said the following:
Holy mackerel! says the Kingfish to Andy. I thinks we has found the new Aunt Jamima lady.
(Wonder how long it will be before Cynthia McKinney hijacks the group and changes it to the "Black Party"? VN8)
ABC News in the tank for Obama!
Does ABC Skew the News in Favor of Obama?
Bigon5555j
ABC is alleged to have skewed the news in favor of Barack Obama. This is the original site I found this story on.
If the story is true, that would mean that 90% of our troups, interviewed in Iraq, support John McCain. It is claimed that the story is entirely false. However it be comes clear that althought each an every detail of the story may never be proved as factual, the point of the story is that the news is often twisted or slanted by the media.
Snopes has not yet determined that this story is false. Included on this page is a reponse from Martha Radditz.
Here you can view the original news segment. It became clear to me, that Martha intended to show that, even after hearing a speech by Dick Cheney, many of our troups still supported Obama and Clinton. Though she states that "some supported John McCain", she chose not to show one soldier saying his name.

Tony Snow dies at 53
By Paul J. Gough
July 12, 2008
NEW YORK -- Former Fox News Channel analyst and White House press secretary Tony Snow died Saturday in Washington, D.C. He was 53.
Snow was a Fox News Channel host and syndicated columnist when he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2005, eventually having his colon removed and chemotherapy. The cancer went into remission and Snow became President George W. Bush's press secretary where he worked until September 2007.
The cancer returned soon afterward, this time to his liver and abdomen. But he said he left the White House not because of his illness but, instead, to earn a living for his family. He joined CNN in April as an analyst but almost immediately was hospitalized in Washington State for exhaustion.
Snow had been a speechwriter for President George H.W. Bush, the first host of "Fox News Sunday," a radio talk-show host and a syndicated newspaper columnist. He also filled in occasionally for Rush Limbaugh on his radio talk show.
"Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend, Tony Snow," said President George W. Bush in a statement released Saturday from Camp David. "The Snow family has lost a beloved husband and father. And America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character."
Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes had known Snow in Washington previously, and when it came time to start the news channel, the commentator was a natural.
"I always thought he was a great communicator and what people don't know about Tony is that he was a genuine intellectual. He had traveled, he understood a lot about foreign policy, he was a writer," Ailes said on Fox News Channel on Saturday. "He was a very deep thinker. On top of that, he played in a rock band, and sometimes did things you didn't expect of him. So he was a renaissance man in a sense."
The Cincinnati native began writing editorials for newspapers in the South after his graduation from Davidson College in 1977 and became editorial page editor of the conservative Washington Times in 1997. He became a speechwriter for President George H.W. Bush in 1991 but later returned to journalism as a syndicated columnist and in the mid-1990s, a startup cable channel called Fox News Channel. He hosted "Fox News Sunday," which was Fox News' first program, from 1996 to 2003.
"This is not only a death in the family to us at Fox, it's also a death in the family to Fox viewers," said the current host, Chris Wallace, on the channel Saturday morning.
As a columnist, radio and TV host there was no doubt about his conservative beliefs. But he was also charming and a natural for TV, something that served him well in broadcasting as well as his later job as press secretary.
"He demonstrated the political process does not have to be mean and ugly," former President George H.W. Bush said on "Fox & Friends" on Saturday morning. "I think people respected that."
Even though he had been critical of President George W. Bush's administration at times, Snow didn't hesitate to serve the country as press secretary at a time of great controversy and declining approval ratings for the president. After a quieter and less forthcoming stint under Scott McClellan, Snow's tenure as press secretary was a marked change.
"He had fun doing it," Ailes said of Snow's time as press secretary. "He loved the jousting, he loved the back and forth with the press. He actually respected the press and liked people with clear thought and good questions, and he felt that he could fight back in some way on some issues and still maintain respect, which he did."
Fox News chief Washington correspondent Jim Angle remembered Saturday that in an environment where reporters go into the White House press room "throwing rocks at the press secretary," Snow was not only not cowed behind the podium but he would joust with reporters.
"For him, it was like a salon where you were discussing policies and ideas and coming to an understanding rather than battling with them over some fact," Angle said. He said Snow was one of the best press secretaries ever.
And yet, multiple people remembered on Saturday, Snow was well-regarded among journalists and politicos as well as viewers.
"He is such a sweet man, he was just the sweetest, loveliest guy you could ever know, a wonderful colleague," Angle said.
Snow had worked at CNN for two stints, once before Fox News when he was a substitute co-host of "Crossfire" and then again beginning in April as a political contributor. CNN President Jon Klein said Saturday that it's a loss for the country as well as the network.
"He loved this country and its people and was looking forward to getting out into America to listen to their stories and share them with the rest of us," Klein said. "It is all of our loss that he never got the chance to do so."
Condolences also came in from NBC News President Steve Capus and CBS News President Sean McManus, among many others.
Born Robert Anthony Snow on June 1, 1955, in Berea, Ky., he was raised in Cincinnati. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jill Ellen Walker, and three children.

Mass Reeinlistment of Soldiers in Iraq
(I can't imagine the desire to reenlist was the food, the hot temperatures or the adventure of dodging bullets and improvised explosive devices! Imagine that, soldiers believing in the cause that they have been fighting for in Iraq?! OK, main stream media, where's the news coverage? God Bless our troops. Keep the faith, stand strong in your pursuit to spread freedom! Semper Fi! VN8)

T. Boone Pickens: A man with an energy plan
Oil mogul and corporate raider T. Boone Pickens launched an energy plan and social-networking campaign on Tuesday that calls for replacing Middle Eastern oil with Midwestern wind.
The so-called Pickens Plan would exploit the country's "wind corridor" from the Canadian border to West Texas to produce 20 percent of the country's electricity.
Transmission lines would be built to transport the power to places in the U.S. where the demand is. The natural gas, now used to fuel power plants, would instead be used as a transportation fuel, which burns cleaner than gasoline and is domestic.
He proposed that the private sector finance the investment, which would result in a one-third reduction, equal to $230 billion, in the U.S.' yearly payments to foreign countries.
Pickens has already invested heavily in wind, notably a planned 4,000-megawatt wind farm in his native Texas.
In his public statement, he said that any large-scale conversion off of oil would need a dramatic change in policy.
"I am calling on the next President and Congress to take immediate action in the first 100 days of the new Administration to do whatever is necessary to make this plan a reality. We are asking the American public to get behind this plan and to help us reduce our dangerous dependency on foreign oil. This has to be the number one priority in the country starting today and that's what this campaign is all about. I am also calling for a monthly report on the reduction in foreign oil imports and a monthly report on progress in the development of natural gas vehicles in this country.
In the video accompanying the PickensPlan.com Web site, Pickens said that getting 20 percent of the U.S.' electricity from wind and diverting natural gas to transportation could be done in 10 years "if there is the right leadership."
On the face of it, the Pickens Plan is not at all radical.
The U.S. Department of Energy earlier this year said that the U.S. could get 20 percent of its electricity from wind in roughly the same time period and has called for the creation of a transmission network to the coasts.
But the conversion of a famed and politically conservative oil prospector to a proponent of wind power will no doubt be eye-opening to people who still associate renewable energy with fringe environmentalists.
He's also adding some social-networking savvy. The Pickens Plan site has a way for groups and individuals to join the group or to carry the Pickens Plan badge on their site.

Alessandro knows the price of Freedom!
Thank you so much Alessandro for allowing me to post your video on my blog! It's heartwarming to know that even someone from Italy knows the price of Freedom!
Oh please, you have got to be kidding me!
A few weeks ago we told you about Muslims who were upset that dogs were being used to sniff for explosives on passenger trains in the UK. Then we had the outrage over the government's non-emergency campaign using a puppy on its posters. Well we have the latest news on Muslims and dogs ... Police sniffer dogs will now have to wear dog booties when searching homes that belong to Muslims so as to not cause offense. They might as well go ahead and wear the booties full time as to never upset Muslims. Sounds like another "Muslims outraged" headline to me. Maybe they should wear little booties on their noses too.

Don't Tell Me Words Don't Matter
We keep hearing that Barack Obama is the candidate of change, that he is clear and consistent in his leadership and in his message. But what does that mean? A look at a few of the positions and counter positions the Junior Senator from Illinois has taken in the course of his four short years from a candidate for the United States Senate to a candidate for the Presidency.

Set my people free . . .
I've always tried to explain what I believe the Democrats continue to do to enslave a segment of our society and today, lo and behold, I ran across this comment from a black man that sums it up. Wake up and smell the coffee, there was an Emancipation Proclamation, January 1, 1863. Which political party is the slave owner now?
"On something I can write, the democratic party has held my race in slavery for far too long. Promising socialist programs that make generations of blacks think the dem party is for them. Instead of inclusion in American society, the democratic party helps to isolate us by separating those who break from the party speaking of self reliance, actually telling blacks how this country was founded, on responsibility and working. Instead, dems try to give more welfare, more asinine preferences. Your democratic party is the death of blacks, and I am making sure I tell every black American, not African American as none of us are African anymore, the truth..."
Isn't it time to free every American that wants a better life and not cause them to feel that the only way they can succeed is through racial quotas? How proud would you feel if you received a promotion, not because of your expertise, experience or intelligence, but because your skin was a particular color? VN8

RIP Senator Jesse Helms
(Below is the description for the above video. This YouTuber pretty much hits the nail on the head to sum up my feelings on how main stream media treats Deomcrats VS Republicans posthumously. We all share many different opinions but I believe there is a time of mourning to be respected before we start ripping them apart. In his final years I believe that Senator Jesse Helms came to terms with some of the things that he did say in his lifetime and he probably did have some regrets. I can't wait for ALL the books to follow. Thank you Senator Helms for standing strong in the great state of North Carolina! VN8)
This is a test of the Liberal algorithm for MEMORIAL VIDEO comments:
* IF memorializing a Democrat, THEN decorum, sympathy, accolades.
* IF memorializing a Republican, THEN derision, venom, profanities.

Standing for nothing whatsoever, except their passing whim, Liberals are baseless. It's one of their theology's prerequisites, so one should NEVER expect to shame them into decency.

On the brighter side:
Jesse Helms rockets to heaven on the 4th of July.
