Teddy has left the building . . .

Well today was like a train wreck, I turned on the TV and started watching the funeral of Senator Ted Kennedy. I took some breaks from time to time, but always came back to see what was happening next. I had heard on one of the broadcasts that Teddy had played an integral part in planning today's events. Well it started early and it ended at Arlington after dark. The funeral was as long as Teddy's ego was large. I thought it would never end, thank goodness I took some anti nausea medication early!

At Arlington, the long awaited answer to what Kennedy had written in a letter to the Pope that was delivered by President Barack Hussein Obama back during the summer. He wrote the following to the Pope:

"I have always tried to be a faithful Catholic... and though I have fallen short through human failings, I've never failed to believe and respect the fundamental teachings of my faith."

Kennedy continued to say that he was:

"committed to do everything (he could) to achieve access to health care for everyone. "This has been the political cause of my life."

OK, that's great, now you have been absolved, I have been waiting my entire life to understand why you were such a die hard socialist, now I know. Through your lifelong "works" you are trying to right your human failings. Next time around Senator, do us all a favor, publicly apologize for any indiscretion that comes to light. Americans are a forgiving people, we love to forgive and spare us all from the rhetoric of your fight for "human rights".

Did Mary Jo Kopechne deserve simple "human rights" as she drowned? Did the women that you abused deserve "human rights". Did the waitress at Washington’s La Brasserie deserve simple "human rights"?

Numerous times today, the media stated that the halls of the Senate would never be the same. To that I say Thank God!

To the family, for their loss, I offer my condolences. To the American people I say, Teddy has left the building and we should all be thankful. Hopefully this is an end of an ERA. Hopefully it's the beginning of a new ERA, and ERA where the American people, We The People take back what is ours.

No to ObamaCare, No to KennedyCare.

I'm certain that Senator Kennedy received the finest health care he could afford while battling his disease. Poor Mary Jo Kopechne didn't even deserve to receive Emergency Medical Service and Senator Kennedy and President Obama think they know what is best for Americans? In the infamous words of John Stossel, "Give me a break!"

Yeah, I said it and you are entitled to my opinion! VN8

As a side note, I've surfed the internet a lot today and this is no reflection on Senator Kennedy, but it is a disgrace what the Kennedy family did after the Patriarch of their family, Joseph Kennedy had a lobotomy performed on his daughter, Senator Kennedy's sister, Rose Marie Kennedy (September 13, 1918 – January 7, 2005). If you are not familiar with this tragedy, do a little research and get a box of tissues. It is pathetic! If this is the type of healthcare we have coming down the pike or a reflection of "death panels", we are all going to be writing letters to the POPE!

Oh and one more thing, you know the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Senator Kennedy's father was an anti-Semite, read it for yourself:

Kennedy was (for a while) a close friend with the leading Jewish lawyer Felix Frankfurter, who helped Kennedy get his sons into the London School of Economics, where they worked with Harold Laski, a leading Jewish intellectual and prominent socialist. While holding positive attitudes towards individual Jews, Kennedy's views of the Jews as a people were, by his own admission, overwhelmingly negative.

According to Harvey Klemmer, who served as one of Kennedy's embassy aides, Kennedy habitually referred to Jews as "kikes or sheenies." Kennedy allegedly told Klemmer that "[some] individual Jews are all right, Harvey, but as a race they stink. They spoil everything they touch." When Klemmer returned from a trip to Germany and reported the pattern of vandalism and assault on Jews by Nazis, Kennedy responded, "Well, they brought it on themselves."

Turn up the heat, we've got them on the run!

Charlie Cook: Dem situation has 'slipped completely out of control'

Charlie Cook, one of the best political handicappers in the business, sent out a special update to Cook Political Report subscribers Thursday that should send shivers down Democratic spines.

Reviewing recent polling and the 2010 election landscape, Cook can envision a scenario in which Democratic House losses could exceed 20 seats.

"These data confirm anecdotal evidence, and our own view, that the situation this summer has slipped completely out of control for President Obama and Congressional Democrats. Today, The Cook Political Report’s Congressional election model, based on individual races, is pointing toward a net Democratic loss of between six and 12 seats, but our sense, factoring in macro-political dynamics is that this is far too low," he wrote.

"Many veteran Congressional election watchers, including Democratic ones, report an eerie sense of déjà vu, with a consensus forming that the chances of Democratic losses going higher than 20 seats is just as good as the chances of Democratic losses going lower than 20 seats."

Cook scrupulously avoided any mention that Democratic control of the House is in jeopardy but, noting a new Gallup poll showing Congress’ job disapproval at 70 percent among independents, concluded that the post-recess environment could feel considerably different than when Congress left in August.

"We believe it would be a mistake to underestimate the impact that this mood will have on Members of Congress of both parties when they return to Washington in September, if it persists through the end of the Congressional recess."

Pan Am 103 Bomber Heading Home

Wonder what the families of the victims of Pan Am Flight 103 are feeling? One of the bombers is heading back to Libya! Yep, he's been shown compassion because he is suffering from terminal prostate cancer! Hope the private jet he is going home on is going to be flown by remote control and that he's aboard alone and the damn thing blows us when it crosses the ocean! I just heard the private jet is being provided by Momar Khadafi. Yeah, you heard that correctly. Terrorists around the world must be celebrating. When we do not remember the past, we are doomed to repeat it! VN8

The following is a poem by a mother who lost her only son aboard Pan Am Flight 103:

A Mothers Thoughts by Beulah McKee

How many times can a Mothers heart be broken?
How many tears can a Mother shed?
How much love as yet unspoken
Can never be said?

It was four days until Christms
Everywhere carols could be heard
The day a "terrorist bomb"
Brought down the "mechanical bird".

Two hundred fifty-nine bodies rained down
There were eleven more dead on the ground
And parts of the plane "Pan Am 103"
All scattered over the town of Lockerbie.

Devastation and havoc was everywhere
Folks in the town looked around with despair
Asking the inevitable "why"
Was it really time for so many people to die?

They did not understand
It was to have occurred over the ocean, not over the land
Leaving evidence hard to find
For those with only that on their mind.

To find those that were guilty
We knew would take time
Now two men in Libya
Have been charged with the crime.

It's been over eight years
Justice has yet to be done
Of the many who are waiting
I'm only one.

So I grow ever older
Will an ending come late?
I can't help but wonder
As I just sit and wait, and wait.

With my heart that's been broken
With the tears I still shed
With the love still unspoken
For my only son, who is dead.

By WARREN E. BUFFETT
August 18, 2009

Legislators will correctly perceive that either raising taxes or cutting expenditures will threaten their re-election. To avoid this fate, they can opt for high rates of inflation, which never require a recorded vote and cannot be attributed to a specific action that any elected official takes. In fact, John Maynard Keynes long ago laid out a road map for political survival amid an economic disaster of just this sort:
“By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens....
The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose.”

I want to emphasize that there is nothing evil or destructive in an increase in debt that is proportional to an increase in income or assets. As the resources of individuals, corporations and countries grow, each can handle more debt. The United States remains by far the most prosperous country on earth, and its debt-carrying capacity will grow in the future just as it has in the past.

Evil capitalism at work!

What do two of these have in common?

UPS and FedEx are supported through evil capitalism, the third, the United States Postal Service is subsidized by you "the taxpayer" and they still can't turn a profit and the President is trying to convince us that the "government" can run Health Care? Wake up America, every "government" program that we create is a disaster. President Obama, you are losing any credibility you had. VN8

Obama Goes Postal, Lands in Dead-Letter Office: Caroline Baum

Aug. 18 (Bloomberg) -- “UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. It’s the Post Office that’s always having problems.” -- Barack Obama, Aug. 11, 2009

No institution has been the butt of more government- inefficiency jokes than the U.S. Postal Service. Maybe the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The only way the post office can stay in business is its government subsidy. The USPS lost $2.4 billion in the quarter ended in June and projects a net loss of $7 billion in fiscal 2009, outstanding debt of more than $10 billion and a cash shortfall of $1 billion. It was moved to intensive care -- the Government Accountability Office’s list of “high risk” cases - - last month and told to shape up. (It must be the only entity that hasn’t cashed in on TARP!)

That didn’t stop President Barack Obama from holding up the post office as an example at a town hall meeting in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, last week.

When Obama compared the post office to UPS and FedEx, he was clearly hoping to assuage voter concerns about a public health-care option undercutting and eliminating private insurance.

What he did instead was conjure up visions of long lines and interminable waits. Why do we need or want a health-care system that works like the post office?

What’s more, if the USPS is struggling to compete with private companies, as Obama implied, why introduce a government health-care option that would operate at the same disadvantage?

Obama Unscripted

These are just two of the questions someone listening to the president’s health-insurance reform roadshow might want to ask.

Impromptu Obamanomics is getting scarier by the day. For all the president’s touted intelligence, his un-teleprompted comments reveal a basic misunderstanding of capitalist principles.

For example, asked at the Portsmouth town hall how private insurance companies can compete with the government, the president said the following:

“If the private insurance companies are providing a good bargain, and if the public option has to be self-sustaining -- meaning taxpayers aren’t subsidizing it, but it has to run on charging premiums and providing good services and a good network of doctors, just like any other private insurer would do -- then I think private insurers should be able to compete.”

Self-sustaining? The public option? What has Obama been doing during those daily 40-minute economic briefings coordinated by uber-economic-adviser, Larry Summers?

Capitalism Explained

Government programs aren’t self-sustaining by definition. They’re subsidized by the taxpayer. If they were self-financed, we’d be off the hook.

Llewellyn Rockwell Jr., chairman of the Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama, and editor of LewRockwell.com, put it this way in an Aug. 13 commentary on Mises.org:

“The only reason for a government service is precisely to provide financial support for an operation that is otherwise unsustainable, or else there would be no point in the government’s involvement at all.”

Rockwell sees no “economic reason for a government postal system” and would abolish it.

Of course, there’s the small matter of the U.S. Constitution. Article 1, Section 8, grants Congress the power “to establish Post Offices and Post Roads.” A series of subsequent statutes gave the USPS a monopoly in the delivery of first-class mail. Congress thought that without such protection, private carriers would cherry-pick the high-profit routes and leave money-losing deliveries in remote areas to the post office. (In those days, the USPS covered most of its expenses with revenue.)

Less Bad Option

It was only through exemptions in the law that private carriers, such as UPS and FedEx, were allowed to compete in the delivery of overnight mail.

Short of a constitutional amendment or a waiver from Congress, we are stuck with the USPS.

But back to our storyline. Everyone makes a mistake or flubs a line when asked questions on the spot, including the president of the United States. We can overlook run-on sentences, subject and verb tense disagreement, even a memory lapse when it comes to facts and figures.

The proliferation of Obama’s gaffes and non sequiturs on health care has exceeded the allowable limit. He has failed repeatedly to explain how the government will provide more (health care) for less (money). He has failed to explain why increased demand for medical services without a concomitant increase in supply won’t lead to rationing by government bureaucrats as opposed to the market. And he has failed to explain why a Medicare-like model is desirable when Medicare itself is going broke.

The public is left with one of two unsettling conclusions: Either the president doesn’t understand the health-insurance reform plans working their way through Congress, or he understands both the plans and the implications and is being untruthful about the impact.

Neither option is good; ignorance is clearly preferable to the alternative.

Robert Novak dies at 78

"Always love your country, but never trust your government."
Robert Novak, a giant in American journalism.
February 26, 1931- August 18, 2009

Novak was a registered Democrat despite his conservative political views. He held more centrist views in his early career, and he supported the Democratic presidential candidacies of John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, of whom he was a friend.[9]

Novak tended toward low-tax, small-government libertarian views, but his disagreements with mainstream Republicans and neoconservatives—specifically his opposition to the Iraq War[10]—have earned him the label of being a "paleoconservative". In July 2007 Novak expressed support for Ron Paul's bid for the presidency.[11]

Raised Jewish, Novak was introduced to Catholicism when his friend, Jeffrey Bell, Republican political consultant and former Reagan aide, gave him some books on the Catholic faith.[12] Novak converted to Roman Catholicism in 1998,[13] after meeting Peter Vaghi, whom he had known before Vaghi switched from politics to the priesthood.

(Robert Novak was all over the political and religious map but I liked his honesty. I may not always agree with someone, but honesty is always a plus, it is what trust is based upon! RIP VN8)

America's Healthcare Town Hall/ Atlanta, GA

Well Conservative Scalawag and I went to a America's Town Hall today and we had a blast. It was great to be with fellow Patriots who believe that this is all about Freedom! Herman Cain and Dick Armey were awesome!

I was the lucky one to be interviewed by the Atlanta Journal (Constipation) sorry, Constitution! Check the story on-line, I guess that's as close as I'll get to my 10 minutes of fame! Apparently my protest poster drew their eye:

They asked the ususal, what is your name, what do you do for a living and then they why are you here? Fortunately, before attending the event, I envisioned what I would do if anyone asked me that question because I am so passionate about "our" freedom that I am passionate in communicating my feelings! So I said as plain as I could that I wouldn't ever go to my neighbor and ask them to pay for my health care and I certainly didn't want the government to steal from my neighbor to pay for my health care. He said that's interesting, blah, blah, blah. He seemed very interested and polite, but you know you are always wondering if they are being polite to get the "wacko" story! LOL I have no idea if it will appear in the paper or in a blog on-line but it was fun! I'll keep you posted if Conservative Scalawag and I ever find a link on line.

If you haven't had an opportunity to go to a Tea Party or a Town Hall meeting, please exercise your right to be seen, be heard and be counted! Be loud, be proud, WE WILL NOT BE QUIET!

Here's a link to my Picasa Album, there's 99 photos but they are all worth your viewing!

ENJOY!

Emily Post's Rules of Engagement:

Michelle Malkin :
The Etiquette Czar's Rules for Patriotic Protest
by Michelle Malkin

The White House press office is now Miss Manners' office. President Obama's press secretary, Robert Gibbs, took to the television airwaves this week to criticize congressional town hall protesters for "yelling." Gibbs' underling, Bill Burton, chastised voters not to "disrupt" and "scream." Instead, he advised America to engage in a "spirited debate about health care, a real vigorous conversation about it."

What constitutes "spirited"? How do they define "vigorous"? When does forceful dissent become intolerable disruption? Herewith, the Obama Etiquette Czar's Official Rules for Patriotic Protest. Keep this guide with you at all times to avoid being flagged by the Democratic politeness monitors.

-- No shouting. Congressional representatives cannot sell Obamacare with mobs of unruly senior citizens and small-business owners interrupting to press them on specific sections of the bill. Limit your objections to a library whisper and only challenge your lawmakers with hushed, dulcet tones. Otherwise, you will scare them, and they will be forced to hide behind teleconference calls, sick children at hospitals or union bosses.

If, on the other hand, you are attending a presidential town hall to show your affection and approbation, "spirited" chanting is acceptable.

Don't: "HANDS OFF HEALTH CARE!" and "READ THE BILL!"

Do: "I LOVE YOU, BARACK!" "AMEN!" and "YES, WE CAN!"

Also permitted: Shouting at historic inaugurations to protest war (as legions of Code Pink activists did in 2005 during the president's address) and shouting, "We didn't cross the borders, the borders crossed us!" to protest immigration enforcement (as thousands of illegal alien supporters did during raucous rallies in 2006).

Do refrain from boisterous shrieking against those who accuse you of lacking patriotism -- unless you are Hillary Clinton, who bellowed at the top of her lungs in 2003:

"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration."

-- No laughing. Snickering at proponents of nationalized health care is rude, bordering on political terrorism. Stifle all derisive chuckling at bogus statistics and denials that Obamacare will lead to long lines and rationed care. That would be "evil-mongering," as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid put it on Thursday.

If, however, you are a member of Congress confronted with silly questions about whether you have read the bill, feel free to giggle. For tips on executing acceptable levels of cackling, take a cue from House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. "If every member pledged to not vote for it if they hadn't read it in its entirety, I think we would have very few votes," Hoyer told CNSNews.com while choking back laughter after a recent news conference. "I'm laughing because a) I don't know how long this bill is going to be, but it's going to be a very long bill." Tee-hee-hee.

-- No Nazi comparisons. References to fascism are ugly and un-American. Swastikas have no place in debates about nationalizing 20 percent of the economy. Swastikas may, however, still be used as substitutes for the "S" in "BusHitler" and tattoos on the forehead of Darth Cheney.

-- No boorish questions. "Real vigorous conversation" requires town hall attendees to formulate queries that will encourage true debate. This is not the time to ask why Congress won't subject itself to the health mandates it wants to foist on every other American. This is not the time to ask how the White House will pay for the massive Obamacare bureaucracy without raising taxes on the middle class. The White House endorsed model citizen questioning at its East Room health care town halls in March and July, including this:

"Hi, Mr. President. I'm a member of SEIU, and I'm down here in Fairfax County working on Change That Works. What can I do, as a member of the union, to help you with your reform bill?"

-- No mean signs. That 11-year-old daughter of a Massachusetts Obama donor and campaigner who was randomly chosen to criticize the scary posters held up by town hall protesters in New Hampshire was right. "Mean" signs are, well, mean. Never mind the placards that blared "Bush is the only dope worth shooting" in Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco and the assassination art depicting former President Bush with a gun to his head in Chicago. "Obama is a socialist" is a sign too far and cannot be tolerated in a civil society. Period.

Instead, print out the "STAND UP FOR HEALTH REFORM" signs helpfully produced by Obama's Organizing for America, and burn your "Don't Tread on Me" flags. Such rebellious sentiments are dangerous incitements to violence.

To those of you who can't abide by The Rules: Shhhhhhhhh.

NaziCare: You decide!

This is odd, what a comparison of emblems! Whose carrying the swastika now Congresswoman Pelosi? Georgia Democrat yells at local doctor over health care

By Amanda Carpenter
August 8, 2009

Tensions are running so high at town hall meetings that Rep. David Scott, a Georgia Democrat, yelled at a local doctor concerned about health care after mistaking him for an "astroturf" political operative looking for a fight.

Mr. Scott became visibly agitated when one of his constituents, a practicing doctor, asked a few questions about health care reform during a town hall meeting. The meeting was held to discuss a road project, but was opened up for questions near the end. That's when Dr. David Hill stood up to speak.

Dr. Hill asked Mr. Scott why he was going to vote for a health care plan similar to that implemented in Massachusetts "that is shown not to work" and if he supported a government-provided health care insurance option.

The congressman replied by accusing the doctor of "hijacking" his event.

"I'm listening to my constituents, OK?" Scott said, "These are people who live in the 13th Congressional district, who vote in this district. That’s who I’ve got to respond to … So what you’ve got to understand, those of you who are here, who have taken and came and hijacked this event we dealing with here, this is not a health care event."

"You chose to come and to do it on your own," he yelled. "Not a single one of you had the decency to call my office and set up for a meeting." He went on, in a threatening voice, "You want a meeting with me on health care, I'll give it to you!"

The outburst is yet another example of how confrontational town hall meetings have become over recent weeks, as constituents are becoming more forthright in asking their elected representatives challenging questions. These actions and other forms of protest have been encouraged by limited government advocacy groups opposed to the stimulus package, the Democrats favored health care reforms and other big spending government proposals.

The White House has labeled these efforts "astroturf", shorthand for fake grassroots. To combat these efforts, groups supporting these plans — such as Service Employees International Employees Union — have been appearing at these town halls as well, effectively creating local "showdowns" between opposing political powers.

Mr. Scott's public tirade against the doctor was filmed by WXIA-TV News, a local NBC affiliate that confirmed the doctor lived in the congressman's district in a follow-up interview.

The doctor told the reporters he wasn't working for any outside causes and had called Mr. Scott's office repeatedly, asking to speak with the congressman.

"I did not go to a meeting to create any problems, I went to the meeting to literally ask a question that I thought was very, very important for my patients," he said.

The video can be viewed on Conservative Sclawag's blog, you have to see it to believe it and he's unfortunately my Representative! Gee gads, I just can't believe it honestly! VN8

'You Are Terrifying Us'

Voters send a message to Washington, and get an ugly response.

The Wall Street Journal: August 6, 2009
Peggy Noonan

We have entered uncharted territory in the fight over national health care. There’s a new tone in the debate, and it’s ugly. At the moment the Democrats are looking like something they haven’t looked like in years, and that is: desperate.

They must know at this point they should not have pushed a national health-care plan. A Democratic operative the other day called it “Hillary’s revenge.” When Mrs. Clinton started losing to Barack Obama in the primaries 18 months ago, she began to give new and sharper emphasis to her health-care plan. Mr. Obama responded by talking about his health-care vision. He won. Now he would push what he had been forced to highlight: Health care would be a priority initiative. The net result is falling support for his leadership on the issue, falling personal polls, and the angry town-hall meetings that have electrified YouTube.

In his first five months in office, Mr. Obama had racked up big wins—the stimulus, children’s health insurance, House approval of cap-and-trade. But he stayed too long at the hot table. All the Democrats in Washington did. They overinterpreted the meaning of the 2008 election, and didn’t fully take into account how the great recession changed the national mood and atmosphere.

And so the shock on the faces of Congressmen who’ve faced the grillings back home. And really, their shock is the first thing you see in the videos. They had no idea how people were feeling. Their 2008 win left them thinking an election that had been shaped by anti-Bush, anti-Republican, and pro-change feeling was really a mandate without context; they thought that in the middle of a historic recession featuring horrific deficits, they could assume support for the invention of a huge new entitlement carrying huge new costs.

The passions of the protesters, on the other hand, are not a surprise. They hired a man to represent them in Washington. They give him a big office, a huge staff and the power to tell people what to do. They give him a car and a driver, sometimes a security detail, and a special pin showing he’s a congressman. And all they ask in return is that he see to their interests and not terrify them too much. Really, that’s all people ask. Expectations are very low. What the protesters are saying is, “You are terrifying us.”

What has been most unsettling is not the congressmen’s surprise but a hard new tone that emerged this week. The leftosphere and the liberal commentariat charged that the town hall meetings weren’t authentic, the crowds were ginned up by insurance companies, lobbyists and the Republican National Committee.
But you can’t get people to leave their homes and go to a meeting with a congressman (of all people) unless they are engaged to the point of passion.
And what tends to agitate people most is the idea of loss—loss of money hard earned, loss of autonomy, loss of the few things that work in a great sweeping away of those that don’t.

People are not automatons. They show up only if they care.

What the town-hall meetings represent is a feeling of rebellion, an uprising against change they do not believe in.
And the Democratic response has been stunningly crude and aggressive. It has been to attack.
Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the United States House of Representatives, accused the people at the meetings of “carrying swastikas and symbols like that.” (Apparently one protester held a hand-lettered sign with a “no” slash over a swastika.) But they are not Nazis, they’re Americans. Some of them looked like they’d actually spent some time fighting Nazis.

Then came the Democratic Party charge that the people at the meetings were suspiciously well-dressed, in jackets and ties from Brooks Brothers. They must be Republican rent-a-mobs. Sen. Barbara Boxer said on MSNBC’s “Hardball” that people are “storming these town hall meetings,” that they were “well dressed”, that “this is all organized,” “all planned,” to “hurt our president.” Here she was projecting. For normal people, it’s not all about Barack Obama.

The Democratic National Committee chimed in with an incendiary Web video whose script reads, “The right wing extremist Republican base is back.” DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse issued a statement that said the Republicans “are inciting angry mobs of . . . right wing extremists” who are “not reflective of where the American people are.”

But most damagingly to political civility, and even our political tradition, was the new White House email address to which citizens are asked to report instances of “disinformation” in the health-care debate: If you receive an email or see something on the Web about health-care reform that seems “fishy,” you can send it to flag@whitehouse.gov. The White House said it was merely trying to fight “intentionally misleading” information.

Sen. John Cornyn of Texas on Wednesday wrote to the president saying he feared that citizens’ engagement could be “chilled” by the effort. He’s right, it could. He also accused the White House of compiling an “enemies list.” If so, they’re being awfully public about it, but as Byron York at the Washington Examiner pointed, the emails collected could become a “dissident database.”

All of this is unnecessarily and unhelpfully divisive and provocative. They are mocking and menacing concerned citizens. This only makes a hot situation hotter. Is this what the president wants? It couldn’t be. But then in an odd way he sometimes seems not to have fully absorbed the awesome stature of his office. You really, if you’re president, can’t call an individual American stupid, if for no other reason than that you’re too big. You cannot allow your allies to call people protesting a health-care plan “extremists” and “right wing,” or bought, or Nazi-like, either. They’re citizens. They’re concerned. They deserve respect.

The Democrats should not be attacking, they should be attempting to persuade, to argue for their case. After all, they have the big mic. Which is what the presidency is, the big mic.

And frankly they ought to think about backing off. The president should call in his troops and his Congress and announce a rethinking. There are too many different bills, they’re all a thousand pages long, no one has time to read them, no one knows what’s going to be in the final one, the public is agitated, the nation’s in crisis, the timing is wrong, we’ll turn to it again—but not now. We’ll take a little longer, ponder every aspect, and make clear every complication.

You know what would happen if he did this? His numbers would go up. Even Congress’s would. Because they’d look responsive, deliberative and even wise. Discretion is the better part of valor.

Absent that, and let’s assume that won’t happen, the health-care protesters have to make sure they don’t get too hot, or get out of hand. They haven’t so far, they’ve been burly and full of debate, with plenty of booing. This is democracy’s great barbaric yawp. But every day the meetings seem just a little angrier, and people who are afraid—who have been made afraid, and left to be afraid—can get swept up. As this column is written, there comes word that John Sweeney of the AFL-CIO has announced he’ll be sending in union members to the meetings to counter health care’s critics.

Somehow that doesn’t sound like a peace initiative.

It’s going to be a long August, isn’t it? Let’s hope the uncharted territory we’re in doesn’t turn dark.

(Yep, that's Peggy Noonan, I know some of the liberals have expressed how much they "like" Peggy Noonan, how do you like her now? Truth hurts doesn't it? Yeah, I said it and you are entitled to my opinion. VN8)

"I don't want to hear a lot of talking!"

Guess what President Obama, maybe you need to talk to the Democrats that controlled Congress under Bush, think they have anything to do with this so called "mess" you are needing to clean up? As for you don't want to hear a lot of talking, guess what, you are going to hear lots of talking. Americans seem to be coming out of a coma and we are talking, we are tweeting, we are loud and we are proud! We learned from you, Mr. Community Organizer! We learned from Code PinkAcorn, MoveOn.Org, if it's good for the goose, it's good for the gander! Yeah, I said it and you are entitled to my opinion! VN8

You can lead a liberal to the facts, but you can't make them think . . .

I'm posting this in response to CountryComesToTownBlog. To answer your question, ObamaCare isn't going to be "FREE", taxpayers are going to pay for it! It's a question of Freedom. It's our money, it isn't the government's money to do what they see fit to do with. I wouldn't go to my next door neighbor and tell them that I can't afford health insurance and tell them that they had to pay for it! It isn't their responsibility. But liberals seem to think that it is their "right". It isn't their right. Health care is not a "right". Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is an inalienable right, health care is not. If American tax payers were not under such a tremendous burden paying for programs such as Social Security, Welfare, Food Stamps, and Medicare to name a few, for millions of we probably could afford to pay for our own insurance.

When did it become common place for each of us to think that when we had a hang nail we needed an insurance policy to pay for that trip to the doctor? When I was growing up you paid to go to the doctor. If we weren't under a tremendous tax burden we could all afford a policy with a high deductible in case of something catastrophic.

I implore each of you, the Bible Thumpers, the Gun Toters, The Teabaggers, the Mobsters to leave your comments, observations, here on this blog, maybe you can more succinctly communicate why National Health Care WILL NOT work. Show me a Nation where it does work!

Taxpayers for years have had their noses down to the grindstone, not looking up to see what was happening to this great Nation but we are waking up. As the Japanese said after the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Obama and the Democrats have awakened a sleeping giant. We are mad as hell, we are passionate about how we feel and we aren't taking it any more. We will not be silenced. Liberals aren't the only "community organizers". We aren't being paid, we are a grassroots group, we also know how to use "Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube and the Internet". We aren't idiots, we have been busy keeping this Country afloat and we aren't ashamed of how we feel, if anything we are ashamed that we have allowed the demise of this once great Nation. God forgive us and have mercy on us.

Here's what CountryComesToTown has to say about us:

Let me tell you something else that is outrageous. It is outrageous to see people that I know, who can't afford and don't have health insurance, holding up teabag party signs hollering that they don't want health care reform and that they can't afford to pay for the health care of others. These are people that live at the mercy and welfare of the state and the taxpayer should they have a catastrophic illness, yet they are the ones screaming against health care reform. That's insane. It's as if they know they are screwed and probably going to die if they have a catastrophic illness and they want me to be in the same boat. I on the other hand, would like for all of us to have access to affordable health insurance and to get the health care we need in the event of sickness. Is that too much to ask – that we might all have the right to live if we act responsibly and are unfortunate enough to get sick? We don't want free health care. We just want the insurance companies to stop screwing us, stop denying coverage we've paid for and stop canceling policies when we get sick.

(Don't try to go to the blog to comment, he has his comments shut down.)

Here are the questions that Herman Cain would like for the President to answer:

July 27, 2009
By Herman Cain

During President Obama’s primetime press conference last Wednesday, he made the usual promises about Obamacare, which have no resemblance to what Congress is working on. The president continues to promise more choices, better health care, fewer costs and less government intervention. The “Health Care De-form” legislation working its way through Congress is just the opposite.

Rather than the lapdog mainstream media doing its job and challenging the president on his assumptions and assertions, they play “run and fetch” with whatever the president says. Since they didn’t do their jobs, here are a few real questions for starters.

Mr. President, since government mandates have never produced the desired results in the history of this country, why do you believe they will work this time?

When the government mandated a salary and wage freeze during World War II, businesses still had to compete for the best people in the workforce. As a result, businesses started offering health insurance benefits as an employment incentive and the practice has intensified over time. So much so, many politicians now proclaim that health care is a “right”.

Mr. President, is food a similar “right”? (No response)

Mr. President, since persistent problems have been reported about Medicare, Medicaid and veterans’ health care, why do you believe that this time the government bureaucracy will perform much better than ever before?

I can’t imagine that he really believes that, but he has to keep saying it because that’s what the “sheeple” want to hear, and it provides cover for what the Democrats in Congress are working on to get us on the road to health care rationing.

Mr. President, if the real objective is to provide health insurance for the “uninsured” in this country, then why not allow people the opportunity to pay a small fee to participate in Medicare? In fact, why not offer free Medicare to those that are really, really poor?

According to my calculations the costs would be only a fraction of $1.5 trillion if you use the real number of 8 million chronically uninsured people instead of the misleading 46 million. Alternatively, why not provide a “health insurance voucher” for those who are chronically uninsured?

Mr. President, have you considered changing the law to allow association health plans, along with allowing health insurance premiums to be tax deductible regardless of who paid for them?

History has shown that free market forces are better than government mandates to curb the rapid rise in costs.

At that point, President Obama would pull a “Clinton”. In 1994, when I asked President Bill Clinton a question during a televised town hall meeting he did not want to answer, he said, “Send me your information and I will get back to you, next question.”

I’m still waiting.

Mr. President, since no country with government-controlled health care has been able to avoid health care rationing to control costs, what evidence do you have that suggests we will be able to do what no other country has been able to do?

Oops! The president’s staff might call security on that one.

If the last question of the night about a “racial” incident in Boston involving a friend of the president was not a plant, then it was a brilliant accidental distraction to throw to the media. “Run and fetch” worked again, because that was the main story by many news outlets the next day.

Here’s my last question:
Mr. President, do you really know what’s in the “Health Care De-form” legislation?

Sorry, we are out of time.

(*Herman Cain and Dick Armey will be in Atlanta at the Centennial Olympic Park on Saturday, August 15th, 1:00 - 4:00 to discuss this debacle! If you can't be there, find a Town Hall Meeting, let your representatives know how you feel! If you can't attend a Town Hall Meeting in person, sent them an email, send them a letter, call them on the phone. This train is nearing the end of the track! VN8)

To my fellow Patriots, keep the faith, never lose sight of our goals. I leave you with the following quotes as inspiration.

President Ronald W. Reagan said the following:

If you`re afraid of the future, then get out of the way, stand aside. The people of this country are ready to move again.

Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a loud voice at one end and no responsibility at the other.

To sit back hoping that someday, someway, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last--but eat you he will.

The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, `I`m from the government and I`m here to help.`

If I could paraphrase a well-known statement by Will Rogers that he never met a man he didn`t like, I`m afraid we have some people around here who never met a tax they didn`t like.

Fascism was really the basis for the New Deal.

The best minds are not in government. If any were, business would steal them away.

Government`s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

I don`t believe in a government that protects us from ourselves.

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children`s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.

Obama’s Approval Rating Drops on Health Care, Economy Concerns

Aug. 6 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama’s approval rating is falling amid concerns about the U.S. economy and his push to revamp the U.S. health-care system, a Quinnipiac University poll shows.

Exactly half of the registered voters surveyed from July 27 to Aug. 3 by Quinnipiac said they approve of the job Obama is doing, compared with 42 percent who disapprove. That’s down from 57 percent approval and 33 percent disapproval in a poll taken in late June, according to results released today.

I'm a Bible thumping, gun toting, well dressed mob of one . . .

and I'm damn proud of it. I'm mad as hell and I'm not taking it any more! I can't afford to pay for your health care. If you feel compelled to contact the White House and have me investigated, I believe my rights to free speech and protest are still protected!

Congresswoman "Lights Out" Pelosi, I think I'm going to send you a broom for Halloween so that you can fly in style!
