This is brilliant . . .

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen. - Samuel Adams

As relevant today as it was 240 years ago. We've done this to ourselves. There are indeed those who would rather live with the "tranquility of servitude" to an all-powerful state than the risk inherent in the "contest for freedom." How did we get here? The end of Adams' quote is the most interesting: "may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." That's the way I feel about so many folks I otherwise like. Politically speaking, we live on different planets. They have no use for the concepts of individual liberty and freedom.

Very well said! Planets like Mars and Uranus! We are at war to retain our liberty and freedom. Keep the faith, we can't give up that all hope is lost. VN8

Sorry, but that will not be me, rather be dirt poor and free. Than wealth and a sheep.
