DNC Chariman Dan Fowler thinks Hurricane Gustav is funny!

Would you consider it humorous that Hurricane Gustav is going to hit New Orleans on Monday irregardless of the fact that it is the first day of the Republican Convention? Well apparently DNC Chairman Dan Fowler thinks it's funny!

"The timing at least as it appears now, that just demonstrates that God is on our side." (chuckle, chuckle)

SC Rep. John Spratt says something that is inaudible and then Dan Fowler continues, "everything is cool."

I don't know about you but everything is not cool, dude! What the heck were you smoking! I hope MSM gets a wind of this, better yet, Neal Boortz or Rush Limbaugh! National emergencies are no laughing matter under any circumstances.

For anyone out there that thinks I've lost my sense of humor, devastation, death and property loss, not to mention the cost to tax payers is not a LAUGHING MATTER!

For those of you out there that knew I was praying for rain on the DNC, I stated clearly that I did not wish anyone to be injured or property to be lost, so save your breath. I just wanted them to be drenched!

Shame on you Dan Fowler and the entire lot of you that think that the timing of Hurricane Gustav is God's favor on the Democratic Party. This further substantiates my claims that Democrats for the most part are venomous. I say strap Dan Fowler on a levee during the hurricane and see if his sense of humor stays in tact! VN8

He a former chairman. As I've said before, it's disgusting to me that people would pray for bad things to happen to the opposition. It was wrong of the Dobson and Focus On The Family to pray for a rain of biblical proportion to hit the Democrats and it's wrong of Fowler and Moore to pray for the hurricane to disrupt the Republican convention.

You should remember however that you strongly defended the people praying for rains to hit the Democrats. You (VN8) said, "It will be interesting to see if it does in deed rain on the Democratic parade. As the man in the video says and I do agree with him, if God decides and I do believe that there is a God and he is in control, then it will rain." ..."Pray without ceasing." ..."street flooding and the hope that cameras would not function. I thought it was semi funny." ..."I hope it rains like hell during the Democratic Convention, I hope no one is injured or personal property is ruined, but if it rains, I see no fault in the fact that I prayed for it!"

I applaud you for coming around and realizing that it's not appropriate for people to be praying for such things. My prayers are with the people on the Gulf Coast. I hope the Republican Convention is not canceled because I enjoy watching both conventions and we need to hear from both parties.

Jim, Dobson posted the guy's video which was, IMHO, in jest. But, supposing it was intended to be humorous, its humor failed. So far as I know, neither Dobson nor Focus on the Family called for folks to pray for rain. Maybe the guy in the video prayed for it...I don't know. Dobson did the right thing and took it down. How 'bout we go over to Kos or DU and see what we can find regarding the GOP convention. I bet folks are hoping for much worse than rain.

Lee the fringe in both parties tend to wish the worst for the other side. There were tons of sites praying for floods in Denver. Let's just all say there's no place for that kind of prayer or humor. Whether it's floods or wind, it's destruction that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Fowler apologized, as he should have:

ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: Former DNC Chairman Don Fowler apologized on Sunday for joking in a private conversation that the timing of Hurricane Gustav demonstrates that God is on the side of the Democrats.

"If this offended anybody, I personally apologize," Fowler told ABC News. "It was a mistake, and it was a satirical statement made in jest. And one that I clearly don't believe."

"One doesn't anticipate that one's private conversation will be surreptitiously taped by some right-wing nutcase," said Fowler. "But that's the nature of what we're dealing with."

Fowler was a super delegate pledged to Hillary Clinton.

I stand by my comment, I prayed that it would rain out the convention. That's a far cry from laughing about a Category 3 hurricane. Fowler can apologize all he wants but if it had rained in Denver to the tune of a Category 3 hurricane I sure as hell wouldn't have been laughing at the devastation. There's a big difference. No need to applaud me for "coming around" I'm not apologizing for praying for rain, let me make that perfectly clear.

As for the Republican convention, the GOP will shine exactly for what it stands for, the Grand Old Party. No matter how the convention plays out, we will do whatever is necessary and Americans come first. Let me see I think I've seen that motto somewhere, "Country First", yeah, that's the Republican Convention motto.

I'm with Lee, I've been on Democratic Underground and KOS and heard some angry comments. What I have never been able to figure out is why are Democrats so angry? Since you carry the banner Jim of being a Democrat, can you explain to me what they are so angry about?

As for your hopes regarding prayer, I don't mean any disrespect, but my choices for prayer are gonna have to remain my choices. Last time I checked I think I'm still living in the land of the free.

In conclusion, if Fowler thought that his conversation on an airplane was private and no one could hear him, he's dumber than I thought! He wasn't exactly leaning over whispering to SC Rep. Scott. If he had done so, he would not have been caught on video.

Nice try Jim. VN8

This might be one of those times that it's best to just cut bait and admit you were wrong VN8. It won't kill you to admit it just once. Is praying for a flood really more appropriate than praying for wind? I'll pass on both and you should to!

I've told you and Lee both that I don't subscribe to or read Kos or Democratic Underground. You and Lee are the ones that read them regularly and seem fascinated with them, not me. Would you like for me to find some fringe right wing sites and ask you to answer for every nutty thing they say?

Jim, here's the difference: Kos and DU aren't fringe sites, they're mainstream and embraced by the Democrats. Kos hosts the Netroots conventions at which leading national Dems attend and pay homage. There are no equivalents on the right. The kooks on the right are necessarily shunned. Republicans would be rightly pilloried for associating with such groups but Dems get away with it.

Jim, with all due respect, no reason for me to cut bait and make any type of admission. I prayed for rain to drench the convention, I made it clear I didn't want anyone to be injured. Big difference in laughing for a Hurricane. So we are going to have to agree to disagree.

Also, it seems that Michael Moore has jumped on the Gustav/RNC bandwagon. Talk about a nut job! Michael Moore takes the Oscar!

As for DU and KOS, I go over there quite frankly just to see how ridiculous some people can be. 95% of them are off their rockers! Well they would be off their rockers if they could afford rockers.

This is a side point but I went on there a few months back and observed several conversations regarding people who didn't have jobs and how horrible the economy was and how they couldn't find a job and this went on and on and on and that they couldn't pay their bills and it was obvious they had internet access and cell phones due to the conversations I observed. Anyway, I suggested that they may want to cut back on non-essentials. LOL That's a joke, they weren't giving up on anything! They deserved to have what they have whether they had a job or not. There were rich bastards in the world and they didn't understand why they should have to give up anything just because they couldn't afford it. That's the kind of BS on DU and KOS.

I continue to stand by my comments and my prayers. VN8

Lee, you are exactly correct, what's good for the goose is not good for the gander. Republicans are expected to shun right wing nut jobs but not Democrats.

By the way did you see the wackos that were arrested this weekend that were going to apparently throw human excrement and urine on attendees of the convention along with numerous devices that could physically injure people? Now talk about some wackos, those people didn't look like they had bathed or cut their hair in months! How many ways can you spell CRAZY? VN8

Interesting logic. Jim has a laugh, shakes head and moves on! LOL

VN8, Lee and Jim ... When stuff like this gets press, it really does point out the fringe. On both sides. Acts of God are never political and attempting to make them so always seems to show the fringe-side of the attempter - hehe (George Bush license applied for). The New Covenant requires that we all pray for our enemies. I think that considering a political opponent an "enemy" in that sense is a little extreme in the first place. Perhaps praying for a way to dialog across the aisle is sufficient?

OM1C, thanks as always for stopping by. What's great about this Nation is that we are free to our opinions. Thank you for sharing yours. We can all agree to disagree at times. VN8
