I received this in an email and I'm sharing them with young because I have thought these same things for years! Sometimes the truth hurts, but I'm saying it loud and clear, I'm happy for you no matter your race but I for one am proud that I'm white. Shouldn't we all be proud of our ethnicity. I for one, in the future, when asked my race am going to list myself as an AMERICAN, plain and simple! If you are so inclined to call me a racist, google, (proud white voter) and look at the images, I wasn't surprised that there were images regarding "proud black voters" there, but couldn't find any images relating to "proud white voters". LOL They even have ribbons, buttons and stickers that state they are "proud black voters." You want to know when racism will end, when no one is regarded as a racist for being proud to be exactly who they are in their skin. Oh, I'm sorry, I just heard a news flash, scientist predict the impossibility that hell will never freeze over. What a shock! News at eleven! VN8
Someone finally said it... How many are actually paying attention to this? There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, AsianAmericans, Arab Americans, etc.
And then there are just Americans. You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman'... and that's OK.
But when I call you, Nigger, Kike, Towel head, Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink .. You call me a racist.
You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you... so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?
You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah. You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.
You have the NAACP. You have BET... If we had WET (White Entertainment Television), we'd be racists. If we had a White Pride Day, you wouldcall us racists.
If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR, lives we'd be racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that??
A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships ...You know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US . Yet if there were 'White colleges' That would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.
You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.
I am proud... But you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists??

I'm not touching this but you betcha I'm gonna be watching to see who does.
Jim, that's a very interest response. I could come to my own conclusions, are you not proud to be white or are you afraid of the repercussions if you say that you are? The reverse racism has to come to an end and so does affirmative action. Your candidate has proven that there is nothing that cannot be accomplished by anyone of any ethnicity if they have a dream and the tenacity to make it happen. Want that be a glorious day when someone is rewarded and promoted efforts than to be rewarded and promoted because you are a minority? On second thought one day soon, white's will be the minority and then we might need affirmative action! LOL That will be the day that affirmative action is killed, the day the white race becomes a minority. I seem their is reason to their madness. VN8
Quite frankly I have, at times, been a little ashamed to be white. I remember I was as a child when the black kids had to drink out of a different fountain at the playground or when I saw signs that said "whites only" I was really ashamed to be white when I saw the police beating civil rights marchers on television back in the 60's. But I was proud to be white when white America elected the first black man to be president of the united states!
I've said it before... I'm extremely proud of my heritage. I grew up in South Mississippi in the 70's so it wasn't uncommon to see the klan doing roadside fundraisers way back then. I remember always being fearful of the whole hood and robe thing. I also had several people in my family who were members of the KKK in one capacity or another and the "N" word was common in the vocabulary of my familiy.
The point being that I have never been one to be a "stereotypical" Mississippian. I believe the reason is because my mother and I were saved by my dad (my step dad who adopted and raised me). He was a military man who is 50% mexican and taught us to be respectful of ALL people. That is also the way I've raised my 3 boys.
Now...the problem is that while I was being respectful of all other races, other races were becoming more vocal about their heritage and demanding more respect from my race. I somehow got lumped in with "whitey" and now it is time for "whitey" to pay up for all the years that they kept the black man down. That's cool to a certain extent.
I have a problem when people demand this and that because they have been "oppressed" far too long and blah blah blah.
The bottom line is this... I dont give a shit if you're black, yellow or purple... If you pay your bills, bust your ass at work to make a decent living for you and yours, and dont expect something for nothing, then good on ya... But if you try to force your racial bullshit on me and expect me to treat you any different, I'll get into redneck- mode real quick like. In other words, DONT TREAD ON ME!
We have every right to be as proud of our heritage as all the other me toos out there. Perhaps the sooner we all learn that, the better off we might be in terms of living with each other. Ain't nobody any better than anybody else based on what happened a century ago. Speaking personally, I tend to stand upon what *I* have done, not what someone else did 100 years before I was born.
...and ANOTHER thing!
...what Paul said!
LOL Solie,
I believe I may have been a tad off topic, but I got on a roll and it got good to me...so I went with it..
Paul, OM1C, thanks for always making it "fair and balanced". I new this would be a fairly hot topic, but it is what it is! VN8
Susannah, that's really sad that you can't be proud of your heritage whatever that might be. I wonder if blacks/African/Americans are ashamed when they realize that there own people sold them into slavery? I think that would cause them some distress but you never hear a word about that. I don't believe there is a race of people that hasn't at one time or another been enslaved, so let's get over our pity, let's stop being victims and take what the Civil Rights movement accomplished and get off of our pity pots and make those that marched proud of what they provided, an opportunity to succeed without expecting someone to give us something for nothing!
I'd be proud of the first black President if he was a Conservative but alas, that is not the case! VN8
