That One!

Perhaps the only other moment gaining any sort of recognition from the debate is the moment John McCain referred to Barack Obama as "that one." Here is the quote in context: "My friends, I know you grow a little weary with this back-and-forth. It was an energy bill on the floor of the Senate loaded down with goodies, billions for the oil companies, and it was sponsored by Bush and Cheney. You know who voted for it? You might never know. That one. You know who voted against it? Me."

So the liberals have their thongs in a wad. Some are complaining that it was demeaning, setting a tone of "those people." Others saw it as the true side of John McCain a cranky, uncomfortable old man. And yes, I'm sure if you get right down to it ... it was racist. I mean, isn't that the argument these days? The only reason John McCain would refer to Barack Obama like that is because he is a racist, right?

(Yes, Neal, I couldn't agree with you more! Skin so thin they should all be wrapped in some good old boy, duct tape. Thank the dear Lord he didn't point his finger at him and call him, "That Boy!", now that would have really set off the political correctness police." I'm personally getting tired of tip toeing through they tulips, if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Everyone doesn't owe you an apology for every statement they make, it's still a free country. In reality anything anyone says could probably be offensive to someone, so I guess we should just all sit around and say nothing. NOT! VN8)

I didn't see it as a racist statement. To me it sounded like a grouchy grandfather said that one over there is the one that tore up my flower garden.
